The area under study is the Maqsura and the Al-Mihrab, two parts with a great architectural interest within the Mezquital Cathedral of Cordoba. Inside the architectural ensemble we have a wide variety of building materials, such as different types of blocks and ashlar, bricks, etc., used in its construction, as well as a variety used in coatings and a multitude of decorative elements : Stucco, plaster, wall painting, parietal boards, blinds, sculpture, architecture, with mosaic glass tiles, glazed ceramic, stone, and so on.     

The Abrigo or Cueva de los Letreros , declared a National Historic Monument in 1924 and located in the municipality of Vélez Blanco in the foothills of the Sierra de Maimon Grande, deserves special attention because of the quality and significance of their cave paintings. Moreover, the rock art of Velez has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO within the Mediterranean arc of the Iberian Peninsula.
